Green Tree Boulevard Extension Project in Victorville

Victorville Green Tree Boulevard Extension$1.2 Million Approval for the Green Tree Boulevard Project

The city of Victorville has a wide range of projects in the works currently, but one that sticks out is the Green Tree Boulevard extension. The project calls for approximately $36 million to $39 million of the city’s portion of the corridor to extend Green Tree Boulevard. The extension will begin at Hesperia Road to Ridgecrest and Yates roads, which is about a mile. The right-of-way acquisition phase of the project is expected to jumpstart in the very near future.

In the headlines is the City Council of Victorville’s approval of a $1.2 million funding agreement for the right-of-way acquisition on this project. The money is expected to be fully reimbursed for the extension of the Green Tree Boulevard project. The design of this project is about 35 percent complete. In contrast, the design for the projected four-lane bridge over the Burlington North Santa Fe Railroad is still under review. The design for the Green Tree Boulevard extension currently has no initial match requirement and is funded by a $3.9 million federal earmark.

Shoveling for the project is expected to begin no later than the beginning of 2017; however, professionals on the job have estimated that there will probably be an approximately $13 million shortfall that will need to be funded by road development impact fees.

Ultimately, the Yucca Loma Corridor will be able to finally offer an east-west connection between Yucca Loma Road in Apple Valley and Green Tree Boulevard in Victorville.
