Contract Awarded for Wastewater Plants
A new Victorville contract has been awarded for wastewater plants to be built in the area. The governors of the Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority have approved two wastewater plants, with one in Apple Valley and another in Hesperia.
These projects are expected to be worked on as early as February. The first part of these projects will include preservation and bolstering local water supplies from areas within the Victor Valley. Experts at W.M. Lyles Co. and the Wastewater Board estimate these projects to take approximately 28 months from start to finish.
Once the system is complete, the city of Hesperia will be able to start enjoying the benefits immediately, with one of the greatest perks being local water conservation. In fact, Victor Valley as a whole is expected to experience great benefits from this project. For one, the project will create $66 million worth of construction, which means job growth. Additionally, cities within Victor Valley can enjoy reclaimed water, without burdening the main plant and at an overall lower cost.
Both the Apple Valley and Hesperia Water Reclamation Plants will be scalping facilities. This means that both water reclamation plants will recycle a percentage of the wastewater flowing through its local collection system while solid waste will flow to the VVWRA treatment plant in Victorville. All solid waste flowing through this treatment plan will be utilized to generate power.
Overall, this project is extremely exciting for Victor Valley as the area will now have the ability to preserve precious drinking water and provide non-potable water that is high quality to be used for irrigation, construction, and landscaping.
