Victorville to Get a New Design for Sheriff’s Station, Triple the Size of Current Station, and Civic Plaza
As mentioned in the Victorville Daily Press, March 24, 2023, the Victorville City Council approved a contract with LPA Inc. to design a new sheriff’s station and civic plaza across the street from City Hall. Initial projections are for a “Victorville Police” station at least triple the size of the current station, which is about a quarter mile west on Amargosa Road. The site of the new facility is a 2.5-acre parcel of vacant land between Park Avenue and Civic Drive. The $382,126 contract with LPA Inc. is being funded through federal American Rescue Plan Act dollars. In the initial design phase, LPA Inc. will perform a needs assessment to determine the space and functional needs of the new police station. A civic plaza comprising civic memorial spaces, enhanced pedestrian connections, and community event space will be incorporated into the design as well as future growth opportunities for the Victorville Fire Department. The conceptual design and a construction cost estimate will be brought back to the City Council for approval.
