The 218-mile route will run along the I-15 highway and offer stops in Las Vegas, Victor Valley, Hesperia, and Rancho Cucamonga. It has full environmental clearance and significant funding, including a $3 billion grant from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and a $25 million grant for station development in Hesperia and Victor Valley. The project, with a construction timeline of about four years, aims to open in time for the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.

Brightline West will offer daily high-speed trains that can travel from Las Vegas to Southern California in just two hours, with up to 25 trains per direction each day. Stations will be located in Las Vegas, Victor Valley, Rancho Cucamonga, and Hesperia, with a Vehicle Maintenance Facility in Sloan, Nevada. The project is expected to generate over $10 billion in economic impact and create 35,000+ jobs, including 10,000 construction roles. It also supports climate goals by reducing carbon emissions and includes wildlife overpasses for bighorn sheep.

The project aims to transform transportation, with remarks from prominent leaders like U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo during the ceremony. The FRA is also considering a waiver for certain Buy America requirements to facilitate the project’s procurement of specific equipment.
