Victorville approves plan for new police station design study: ‘Nearly three times bigger’

The Victorville Daily Press stated on August 26th, 2024, that the Victorville City Council approved a $1.3 million amendment for a conceptual design study by LPA Inc. for a new police station and civic plaza. This agreement covers the first two phases of the design study. The new police station will be built on an undeveloped lot at the northwest corner of Civic Drive and Seneca Road, which was selected for its larger size, allowing for future growth and more resources. The station will feature expanded facilities, a civic plaza, event space, and more parking.

The project is funded through Measure P and will be reimbursed by San Bernardino County, which also contributed $3.7 million for land acquisition, conceptual, and schematic designs. The city’s initial site selection was deemed too small, leading to the identification of a new nine-acre location that can accommodate both the station (43,000 sq. ft.) and the civic plaza (3 acres).
