Apple Valley Opens Capt. Joseph McConnell Jr., USAF Park Featuring Striking Veterans Memorial
According to the Victorville Daily Press dated November 12, 2025, Apple Valley celebrated the grand opening of a new park honoring Capt. Joseph McConnell Jr., USAF, the top American fighter jet ace of the Korean War and a former resident of the town. The park, located at 21878 Pah-Ute Avenue between Navajo and Quinnault roads, officially opened on Veterans Day 2025. The memorial has drawn comparisons to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
