Barstow Works Toward Completing Development Projects

Lenwood Grade Separation ribbon cutting is a milestone in Barstow’s progress.Ribbon Cutting for Lenwood Grade Separation

In late August, Barstow city officials and citizens gathered to watch the ribbon be cut on the new Lenwood Road Grade Separation.

Much more than just the opening of a newly improved road in the area, this ribbon cutting marked a milestone in Barstow’s progress towards their established goals.

With the opening of the Lenwood Road Grade Separation, the city saw the fruits of the $31 million it had invested in widening Lenwood Road by two lanes in both directions, creating a bridge that elevates the road 35 feet over the BNSF railroad, and elevating the Main Street/Lenwood Road intersection. All of this is aimed at improving the current flow of traffic and making it easier for Barstow to accommodate future traffic.

This future traffic will be driven by the fact that the Lenwood Road Grade Separation is far from the only development Barstow has on the docket. In an effort to promote growth, improve the city’s infrastructure, and bolster public safety, Barstow has a number of projects in the works.

These include, but aren’t limited to, a large industrial park, street improvements, sewer line repair and replacement, a new Montara Place Shopping development, a large aluminum plant that will create upwards of 500 jobs, and flood control projects.
