Barstow On The Upward Journey Towards Growth

Expansion, Development, & Growth in Barstow’s Future

Barstow residents can see a prosperous New Year ahead with several development projects picking up speed. Growth in the Barstow area is expected with the emergence of these promising developments:

Although the Barstow Casino Project by the Los Coyotes Tribe in Lenwood has experienced a halt in recent years due to bureaucratic differences, the project is expected to move forth in 2015. When the project was initially recognized in 2004, the City of Barstow and the Los Coyotes Tribe signed an agreement that once complete, the development would share 4.3 percent of its revenue with the city of Barstow.

One of the most promising projects that is currently well underway and expected to be complete by July is the $31 million Lenwood Road Grade Separation Project. As the largest undertaking since 1996, Barstow is expected to experience extreme growth once this project is complete. Lenwood Road will be widened to accommodate for future traffic demands and existing traffic flow.

Nobody has forgotten about the Super Walmart project that is expected to break ground sometime this year. The 200,000 square foot Super Walmart will not only bring nearly 100 jobs to Barstow, but it will also bring a bank, a retail store, and restaurants to the local area.

Within the first several months of 2015, we can expect the city of Barstow to welcome the opening of an Arco AMPM gas station and truck stop at Main Street and L Avenue. Once complete, this project will blend with the Shoppes at Spanish Trails.
