Measure I Benefits the Victor Valley
The La Mesa/Nisqualli Interchange that broke ground in February 2011 and opened in 2013 will finally be paying off its debts. A funding source that they did not believe was possible is allowing other Victorville road projects to move forward by paying off remaining debt from the project earlier than expected.
Due to unexpected funds from Measure I in combination with fees from the Road Service Development Impact, the San Bernardino Associated Government recently announced a victory that the entire city can be thankful for. With the authorization to pay off the remaining $2.8 million that was owed to the San Bernardino Associated Government, both the La Mesa/Nisqualli Interchange will finally be paid off while a new project that was not projected to successfully jumpstart will begin shortly.
With this news, rehabilitation to Bear Valley Road in between the Interstate 15 ramps and Balsam Avenue will soon begin, as well as other projects that the City Council prioritized. These projects include repairs to La Mesa Road from Mesa Linda Road to El Rio Road for $1.9 million, Industrial Road from Silica Road to Bear Valley Road for approximately $2.1 million, and Amethyst Road from Bear Valley Road to Mojave Drive for about $1.6 million. It is important to note that these numbers are preliminary, and once project details are underway, more accurate project amounts will be revealed.
In addition to the ability for these projects to be completed, the timeline for the Green Tree Boulevard Extension is expected to be shortened. This means that the multi-agency project that will connect Green Tree Boulevard with Yucca Loma Road in Apple Valley will be in our reach sooner than previously anticipated.
