Southern California Housing Sales Increase

July posted great numbers for the Southern California housing market.  Southern California Housing Sales Increases

Records were broken in Southern California this July. Home buyers snatched up a staggering number of properties, boosting sales to their highest July numbers since nine years ago. This is especially impressive since prices have continued to rise across the southern part of the state.

Sales in July were up by 17 percent over 2014, according to reports from CoreLogic. This brings the number of sold homes to 24,235 in July 2015.

July wasn’t on its own in hitting records, either. June also brought numbers that haven’t been hit since 2006. In other words, it looks like Southern California is hitting levels we saw before the economic collapse and housing market bust less than a decade after the dive!

Real estate experts are pleased with the numbers, saying they mark a return to what could be seen as “normal” for the market. Analysts have reported that July 2015’s numbers were just 4 percent under the long-term average could have expected without the Great Recession, and impressive improvement over the 18 percent below long-term average posted in July 2014.

All in all, July’s numbers keep 2015 on track to trump 2014 in terms of real estate market health. While we were all concerned about distressed sales just a few years ago, the most recently posted numbers are much more positive, driven by low mortgage rates, low unemployment, and increased consumer confidence.
