San Bernardino Housing Demand & Drought

San Bernardino Housing Demand & DroughtTopics Of Concern At The 2nd Annual Housing Policy Conference

The California drought and home development were both hot topics at the 2nd Annual Housing Policy Conference that was held earlier this month. As community leaders, business officials, and government leaders gathered at the DoubleTree Hotel in Ontario, the current housing and economic forecast was discussed.

It was announced that San Bernardino County will be increasing construction developments, meaning nearly 1,500 new construction jobs to the region. It seems that the region will not be able to reach demand needs and expectations, but there will be apartment and housing developments that help us inch closer and closer to the necessary demand.

The water crisis was also discussed, and the Executive Director of the Southern California Association of Governments, Hasan Ikhrata, stated that there will be enough water for California for decades. His calculations do not stop at the current availability of water, as they also take into consideration technologies ability to alter our dependence on water from the Bay Delta and Colorado River. The plan is for water desalination and reclamation facilities to help California out of its current state of severe drought. Of course this is all dependent on the community’s commitment to invest in programs and capital projects that will increase water conservation efforts and foster substantial change.
