Two High Desert Cities Topping The Charts
In WalletHub’s recent release of “2015’s Cities with the Most & Least Diversified Economies,” two High Desert cities ranked near the top for cities with the most diversified economies. With Hesperia and Victorville ranking within the top 20, it shows that the economic recovery efforts are effective.
This survey included multiple categories, for which Hesperia ranked 3rd and Victorville ranked 14th in “Industry Diversity.” Since these cities are keen in being diverse areas to both run business and reside, these rankings make sense. Although Victorville ranked 14th, there was a note praising the region for its high concentration of retail trade. To determine these outcomes, WalletHub analyzed each city in terms of construction, manufacturing, agriculture, information, arts, food services, public education, retail trade, finance, educational services, and transportation.
These high rankings of two High Desert cities can be attributed to the regions need to diversify amongst industry fronts after the economy took a turn for the worse after the Great Recession. The strategy to diversify was the perfect solution for making up for lost jobs. This tactic has undoubtedly contributed to the overall economic growth of the region that is incomparable to most recovery strategies throughout California.
It is interesting to note, however, that 12 of the 15 cities ranked in WalletHub’s “2015’s Cities with the Most & Least Diversified Economies” were located in California. Other California cities with diverse economies include Ontario, Fontana, and Rialto.
