Approved Senior Housing in Hesperia

Housing for seniors will continue to move forward.Hesperia City Council Approves Senior Housing

The City Council in Hesperia has approved an ordinance that will allow the construction of a senior housing complex directly across from Sultana High School. In early October, the Council met and approved the two-story, 23-unit senior apartment complex, with the request that a sidewalk be considered along Sultana Avenue.

The apartment complex will include 14 one-bedroom and 9 two-bedroom units, along with a multipurpose room, gym, library, lobby, computer room, media room, and laundry room which will meet the needs of the senior community. The complex will also include active outdoor recreational activities such as a half basketball court, shuffle board court, along with picnic areas. The plans have been said to be beautifully laid out, fitting with the other senior housing facilities nearby.

The property is currently vacant and is bounded by existing multiple-family residences to the north and south, and by the Hesperia Garden Senior Apartments to the west. In addition, according to the Southern California Association of Governments, Hesperia needs to plan for 986 units of housing affordable to families above moderate income over the next six years.
