Anxiously Anticipating The Completion Of The Highway 395 Project

Highway road constructionAre you as excited as we are about the Highway 395 Project? Caltrans met with locals late last month to discuss specific improvement requests for Highway 395. Both locals and nonlocals can continue to anxiously anticipate the completion of this improvement project as it will not only reduce traffic congestion, but it will also have an impact on the number of traffic collisions that take place on Highway 395.

Caltrans: Highway 395 Project

This improvement project is expected to be nearly 7 miles in length, and will take place about 2 and a half miles north of Kramer Hills to Kramer Junction. The existing roadbed would be widened as a four foot median buffer would be added in addition to eight foot shoulders. Improvements such as these are expected to reduce the number and severity of run off the road collisions and cross centerline collisions. Maneuverability and sight distance will be enhanced once this improvement project is complete. Additionally, the existing pavement markers will be replaced so that motorists can experience enhanced visibility while driving. Since there are many threatened and endangered species nearby, this project will also include the addition of Desert Tortoise fencing and gates.

Caltrans has estimated that the entirety of the project will cost about $39.4 million. These Highway 395 improvements are programmed as a reservation project under the Safety Improvement Program into the 2014 State Highway Operation and Protection Program. This project is expected to bring only positive things.
