Proposed Barstow Casino Project

3D closeup of casino table with roulette and chipsThe proposed $160 million Los Coyotes Barstow development is expected to bring explosive growth to the city of Barstow. Calculations show that the projected development will create over 1,000 permanent jobs for Barstow and the surrounding areas, with approximately 800 of them coming directly from facility jobs. During its development, it is also expected to bring over 1,000 construction jobs to the area to build the casino. Once the casino is up and running, even more jobs are expected to arise. Without this development, revenues go directly towards Nevada. Therefore, this project will bring revenue that was once going to Nevada back to California, while also boosting job growth for California.

The 23-acre land parcel meets the standards enforced by the Department of the Interior in 2008, more commonly known as “Artman Guidance,” since it lies within a commutable distance from the reservation. The Los Coyotes Trust parcel is located in the incorporated boundaries of Barstow, just east of Interstate 15, near the Lenwood Outlet Malls.

Only time will tell if the actual hard numbers resemble projected growth for the city of Barstow. However, there is a vast agreement amongst experts, that the success and job growth of this project will help the local area.
