What New projects Are Coming to Victorville in 2023?

According to the Victorville Daily Press, December 29, 2022, the City of Victorville should experience a banner year as the largest municipality in the High Desert has several big developments brewing in 2023.

Church and Dwight expansion                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Expansion of the Church and Dwight manufacturing and distribution warehouse located at 17486 Nisqualli Road within the Foxborough Industrial Park is currently underway. The expansion will include 200,200 square feet of added space on the easterly side of the building and a new 450,519 square foot building. The expansion is expected to be complete in 2023.

CarMax                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          CarMax is joining the family of auto dealers in Victorville. Work has begun at the project site, located at 15154 Civic Drive near In-N-Out Burger. The new CarMax will include a 7,600-square-foot sales, service, and presentation building. Currently, crews are doing the earthwork to prepare the lot for construction. In 2020, CarMax representative Steve Hudak said the company expected the new Victorville store to bring in $45 million to $60 million in revenue. He added that car sales would translate to $450,000 to $600,000 in sales tax revenue for the city. He added that 100 units per month were already being bought by Victor Valley residents who have to drive down the hill to purchase a CarMax vehicle.

Dollar General                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       A new Dollar General store has been constructed at the corner of Mojave and Village drives. The parking lot has been paved. The interior shelving, racks, and coolers are being installed, with the occupant applying for a temporary certificate of occupancy.

Superior Grocers                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Plans have been approved for Superior Grocers to be located in the former Victorville Galleria in the retail mall on LaPaz Drive next to Harbor Freight. The new grocery store will occupy 35,000 square feet of space. Renovations will be made to the interior of the building, and improvements will be made to the facade.

High Desert Pace Center                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Dubbed the High Desert Pace Center, the all-inclusive elderly care facility on approximately 2.3 acres will sit just south of Bear Valley Road and east of and abutting Amethyst Road. The 18,340-square-foot facility will provide adult day care and clinical care for seniors. This project is currently in plan check. Pontius Architecture reported that the building would include a 15,500-square-foot first floor and 2,829 square feet on the second floor. Numerous exam rooms, rehabilitation, and therapy spaces are planned for the building, along with activity rooms, a dining area, staff offices, and lounge areas. The gated property will include street improvements along the site’s frontage and onsite improvements such as 101 paved parking areas, landscaping, and decorative perimeter fencing. The facility will also offer outdoor gathering spaces, enhanced landscaping, a fountain feature, a drop-off area, and required parking and transport vehicle parking.

City officials said thanks to the efforts of its development partner, Stirling Investments, a subsidiary of Prologis, three large industrial buildings totaling 2.6 million square feet were constructed at our Southern California Logistics Airport in 2022. Among them is the 1.08 million-square-foot Amazon Fulfillment Center located at 18580 Gateway Dr. This large warehouse facility is expected to employ 1,000 people when operational, which is undetermined. The two other large industrial buildings constructed at SCLA in 2022 include a temperature-controlled distribution facility for Mars Petcare and a record-keeping and storage facility for Iron Mountain.
