Construction Begins on Green Tree Boulevard Extension in Victorville

As stated in an article in the Victorville Daily Press, June 2, 2021, construction crews have started work on extending Green Tree Boulevard, which will offer High Desert commuters an additional east-west route to Interstate 15 via the Yucca Loma Bridge once roadwork on the Victorville project is completed. The Green Tree extension is the third phase of a larger project that included Apple Valley constructing the Yucca Loma Bridge over the Mojave River and widening that stretch of road. Once finished, the Green Tree extension will connect with Ridgecrest and Yates roads — just north of Spring Valley Lake. Officials said construction on the corridor will likely wrap up in fewer than two years, or 22 months. Crews will add a traffic signal where the boulevard meets Ridgecrest Road and widen Ridgecrest and the intersection of Green Tree and Hesperia Road with new turn lanes. A 600-foot bridge will also be built over the BSNF-owned railway. Victorville spokesperson Sue Jones said the bridge will be the longest in the city. The $46.8 million project is being funded by contributions from the city, San Bernardino County Transportation Authority, Apple Valley and the county. Victorville is paying its $15 million portion with $6.6 million in cash as they finance the rest with a loan with SBCTA to be paid off via future road development impact fees, according to officials.
