City Council OKs Hesperia Senior Housing

According to the Victorville Daily Press, October 8, 2015, the City Council approved an ordinance that will allow the construction of a two-story, 23-unit senior apartment complex on a little over an acre on the west side of H Avenue, which is unpaved, directly across from Sultana High School. The property, which also includes “four affordable units,” is currently vacant and is bounded by existing multiple-family residences to the north and south, and by the Hesperia Garden Senior Apartments to the west. “I think it’s a good project and it will meet the need of our senior community,” Councilman Paul Russ told the Daily Press. The apartment complex will include 14 one-bedroom and 9 two-bedroom units. The one-bedroom units will be just under 700 square feet and the two-bedroom units will be 879 square feet. Project amenities include a multipurpose room, gym, library, lobby, computer room, media room and laundry room. The complex will also include active outdoor recreational activities such as a half basketball court, shuffle board court and a tot lot with permanent playground equipment. The passive recreational facilities comprise two picnic areas with tables and barbeques.
