Circle K & Retail Set for Palmdale Rd., Highway 395 in Victorville Moves Forward

As mentioned in the Victorville Daily Press, August 18, 2019, several drive-thru restaurants, a cellphone tower, a Circle K gas station with alcohol sales, a dog walking area and space for overnight RVs are part of a project proposed for the southwest side of Palmdale Road and U.S. Highway 395 in Victorville. The shopping center, dubbed “Desert Grove,” would be located on a 15-acre plot of land and include about 96,000 square-feet of shopping space. The project took a significant step forward with the approval by the Victorville Planning Commission of a final environmental impact report. Waad Nadhir, who represented the ownership group, said the 40 recreational vehicle parking stalls proposed for the shopping center would also fill a need on the corridor. The corner is at the intersection of two highways — Highway 18, also known as Palmdale Road, and Highway 395, which connects Canada to Southern California through the Eastern Sierras. Construction would occur in two stages, said Nadhir. The first stage, about 36,000 of retail space flanking Palmdale Road and Highway 395, could begin sometime in 2020, he said. The second phase would involve the construction of larger retail stores that would fill the interior of the project site. With approval from the commission, the project now moves on to Caltrans, which must approve permits for the project to move forward. The owners propose building 460 parking spots, along with 56 bicycle parking stalls.
