Proposed High-Speed Rail Station Project Making Moves
The city of Palmdale and the California High-Speed Rail Authority have joined forces and recently announced that they have entered into a station-area funding agreement regarding the proposed high-speed rail station project. This high-speed rail station will fall between the Palmdale Transportation Center and the civic center.
This high-speed rail authority agreement with Palmdale allows both involved parties to begin diligent research. They will now be seeking strategies to encourage economic development and station area development, in addition to enhancing multimodal connections that will connect the city and the station.
This proposed project is undoubtedly going to make big changes for both Palmdale and surrounding cities within the Antelope Valley, which is why the Authority is looking for ways to optimize this project in a timely and efficient manner. This agreement with the High-Speed Rail Authority gives Palmdale $600,000 in grants that allows them the opportunity to explore various options and the public to voice their opinion in regards to design and development. Since the station planning aspect of the Palmdale Transportation Center is extremely important, the city of Palmdale feels that it is only right to receive input from the public.
