Adelanto city officials wait in anticipation for a project they expect to boost the city’s economy. That project is being referred to as “Landmark Synthesis Mall” and is planned to be built on 40 acres near the corner of Air Expressway and Bellflower Street in Adelanto. The plans for this huge entertainment center include a variety of amenities including restaurants, retail stores, a hotel, convention center, and entertainment space, including a museum. A development of this size is bound to attract a large number of visitors to the city and also create numerous jobs thus strengthening the local economy.
As far as funding for the project, city officials say $200 million is already available from foreign investors. PDI Developments Group Ltd. is the company that represents these investors, which consist of four major asset management companies in South Korea. All of the financing will be through a program called the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program. This program allows entrepreneurs, their spouses and unmarried children under the age of 21 to apply for permanent residency in the United States, but only if they meet two requirements. They must invest in a commercial enterprise in the United States and plan to create or save 10 full-time jobs for qualified American workers.
The City Council already approved a memorandum of understanding with PDI, which is the first step of the development process, and if the rest of the process runs smoothly we can expect the project to be finished in 2020. Some believe that with Adelanto’s efficient planning department, the duration of the development will be even shorter than originally predicted. This project will absolutely play an important role in future growth for the City of Adelanto.
